2. Bad.

A female poster here was almost the subject of a homicide at the hands of a domestic partner today and some freakazoids in the Lounge thought abusing her some more was a good way to "encourage" her deal with it.

The thread, which involved a lot of idiot comments (accusing the poster of lying or exaggerating about her trauma, as well as being a "jerk" because she hadn't yet gone for more help than the police could provide) was a stark reminder of how ignorant people are generally about violence against women, even when it is literally staring them in the face.

Glad it was yanked.

Sounds repellant, and an apt reminder of why I stopped posting in the lounge. Though, on a good day GD isn't much better, is it? Sorry that you had to see that crap at all. Also glad it was yanked.

I hope she got mostly positive responses. I hope people were supportive. The idea that people would abuse her for coming to the lounge for support really bothers me. I'm a regular in the lounge.

or at least that would be the pattern, you realize: mate distanced her from any and all friends, family, work, etc. Make her completely dependent on him. Make her feel worthless and unlovable and incapable of doing better than him -- ever.
