Paraguay's World Cup team liaison manager called up a Swedish press photographer after the weekend's warm-up friendly against Denmark hoping she would meet up with one of Paraquay's players privately in the middle of the night.
Dagens Nyheters' Emelie Asplund, who was in Aarhus with a colleague to cover the match, stayed at the same hotel as the Paraguay squad and was awakened by the host's phone call at one in the morning.
"It was the FIFA host Manuel Hoffmann who called. He said that a player of the team wanted to meet me right then in the middle of the night to get to know me better", said Asplund, who declined the offer.
"We had (previously) met the FIFA representative here at the hotel. He translated when we were interviewing players."
