it looks like he half heartedly attempted a block and missed. What do you interpret?

2. It's the bounce

The ball bounces far more than you'd normally expect and I think that's what confused him. He expected the ball to bounce a lot less than it did and he was in the right place for a less extreme bounce.

That's the best excuse I can come up with anyway.

that was a really good kick and one hell of a bounce..in 17 years of coaching soccer i`ve never seen that happen...
