Which Clubs do you Support? |
|
I'm an Ajax supporter, but that is due largely to my family connection and travels to Amsterdam.
In the international game, I always support the US and Holland.

International: I'm an England supporter (Born there)
Premier League: Liverpool (Bill Shankly was the greatest)
League 1: Brighton and Hove Albion
Also have a soft spot for the Rio de Janeiro club Vasco da Gama. Saw them play many times at the Maracana stadium. Their fans rock...

15. Can't disagree about Shankly |
|
I would happily give my right arm to have a man like that as manager of my team.
There is that remarkable video on YouTube of Shankly and the Liverpool team on the steps of Liverpool City Hall amidst cheering thousands. When Shankly speaks you can hear a pin drop.
He addresses the massed ranks of Liverpool fans and says something like: "What I have tried to drum into these players, again and again, is that it is a privilege to play for YOU. And if they didn't believe me then, then they believe me now!"
That sends a shiver up my spine. In an age when money threatens to dominate all, THAT is the heart and soul that lies in the breast of every true football fan.
Shankly understood.

Newcastle United?
I sadly take my hat off in sombre funereal respect to you sir/ma'am
I am also Welsh but the source of my misery is closer to home: I am that most rare of items: a Newport County fan.

Liverpool is on a uptick and putting a high five on Villa doesn't hurt the goal differential. United should have finished the game with 8 because Ronaldo should have joined the others in the tunnel.

Didn't get a chance to see United lose at the cottage but saw the highlights of Rooney getting tossed. Second time this season?
And Ronaldo is a petulant little prick that makes me wish Norman Hunter was still playing...

It was a thrashing of United- Danny Murphy the United killer (wish he was still at Liverpool instead of Lucas) scored first and the scissor kick by Gera was the knife in the back. Ronaldo should have been sent off for whining. Rooney only got a one game ban which should have been 3 based on what he said to the referee and punching the flag leaving the pitch. I wish for Liverpool's sake there was no international break but that is how it goes.

I had a Liverpool subbuteo set when I was young in the 70's and have been a fan since.
Bundesliga - Dortmund Belgium - Jupiler League - Standard Liege (my dad played in their youth system) Lique 1 - Bordeaux (I saw Zidane play in the early 90's at Bordeaux) Dutch Eredivisie - Ajax

You have a username of 'Upton' and you claim to support Arsenal?
You're a Hammer and you know you are.
You probably have a signed photo of Trevor Brooking in your wallet, Bobby Moore is your God, Ray Winstone your favourite actor, and your entire house is almost certainly painted in Claret and Blue.
Heck, your favourite English historical figure is Anne Boleyn!
You're a Hammer and you are forever blowing bubbles. Just admit this small fact.

21. Ah, I sense a kinship here |
|
You may not remember him. He was your right-back in the grimest period in Sheffield Wednesday history, but Richard Walden (who also played for my team, Newport County) died very recently. At County he was known as 'Rolls Royce' for his class. He helped take my little team to promotion (from old Division 4 to old division 3), and also to the Quarter Finals of the Cup-Winners-Cup back in the early 80s.
RIP Richard.
