Announced this morning that the former Ipswich Town, Barcelona, PSV, Newcastle United and England manager Sir Bobby Robson has died, aged 76, after a battle with cancer.
Nobody in football ever had a bad word to say about Bobby Robson.
All fans across the footballing world will be saddened by the news.
A true gentleman. A great man.
Italia 90, Bobby Robson's passion, Gazza's tears, made SUCH an impression on me as a kid.
Rest In Peace Bobby

| 1. Press gave him a lotta stick |

Don't know why? He was the last English manager to have a sniff at a world cup title in years. God rest him-

They absolutely slaughtered Robson after Euro 88 and after the first game of Italia 90.
Robson, being Robson, just got on with the job with great dignity.
The same press corps (that basically accused him of being a traitor to his country for agreeing to join PSV Eindhoven before the World Cup - the worst and cruellest insult you could throw at such a patriotic man like Bobby) bought him a leaving present. It was a beautiful old map of Sardinia (where England were based during that World Cup). He would have been well within his rights to hurl the map back at them. But he didn't. Robson treasured that gift for the rest of his life.
Class.
Pure class.
Also, EASILY, the best England manager since Sir Alf.
