become the official mascot of the NFL and Division one college ball? Football linemen have always come XXXL and larger sizes, but lately it seems like morbid obesity has become the norm. I really noticed it the last couple of years watching the worst Washington Husky club in living memory. The linemen were huge, and mostly useless. If the coaches had tethered the goodyear blimp ou there at nose guard it would have had just as good a chance of getting to the quarterback. I chalked it up to poor recruiting and bad conditioning by an incompetent coach. But watching the NFL this weekend, it seems like a lot of these same players, or players very like them, are becoming the norm in the NFL. It's hard to imagine some of these 6 foot, 325 pound behemoths having an 8 or 10 year career such as used to be the norm for pro linemen. In fact, it's hard to imagine most of them living to see age 60 without becoming diabetic, or contracting heart disease..
