|
Here are my picks for week 7
Detroit over Cleveland (Cleveland is ALMOST as bad as MN)
Green Bay over Minnesota (this is the someone's gotta win bowl for the week. It pains me greatly to pick the Packers)
Indianapolis over Houston (Houston is WORSE than MN)
Kansas City over Miami (bad defense/good offense vs inconsistent offense)
St Louis over New Orleans (Sorry, Mr Haslett, sir, this is not your week, either)
Cincinnati over Pittsburgh (Palmer vs Maddox)
Philadelphia over San Diego (Philly at home...with their "fans")
Washington over San Francisco (Puleeeeze)
Seattle over Dallas (Love that Shaun Alexander)
Baltimore over Chicago (battle of the defenses)
Buffalo over Oakland (Moss is injured)
NYGiants over Denver (gut feeling)
Tennessee over Arizona (Titans are better)
Atlanta over NYJets (Vick's backup is better than Pennington's)

Pittsburgh @ Cincinnati-Cincinnati San Diego @ Philadelphia-Philadelphia San Francisco @ Washington-Washington Dallas @ Seattle-Seattle Baltimore @ Chicago-Chicago Buffalo @ Oakland-Oakland Denver @ NY Giants-New York Giants Tennessee @ Arizona-Tennessee NY Jets @ Atlanta-Atlanta
I still say the winner of the NFC North should play the winner of the MAC for a birth in the Motor City Bowl.

Cleveland (If this were at Detroit, I'd pick differently) Minnesota (I just can't pick against 'em, no matter how much they suck) Indy (Duh) Miami (Just a hunch) New Orleans (N.O. has had the ability to play STL tough for many years) Cincinnati (assuming that Maddox is starting for Pitt) Philly (Tough pick here, but I think Philly's D is more up to the task) Washington (Even the Vikes could beat San Fran, I'm thinking) Seattle (Seattle's on a roll) Baltimore (Baltimore's D will destroy Chicago's pathetic O) Buffalo (Holcomb's leading the Bills well) Denver (Denver's looking awfully good, Giants not quite at that level) Tennessee (Denny's Cards really stink) Atlanta (Jets got lucky against the Bucs, they won't in Hotlanta)

First off, KitchenWitch, you dirty rat! You're ruining the fucking curve! **"accidentally" tombstones KW**
Now, on to the picks!
Cleveland over Detroit (although both of these teams are historically sucky and reasonably better this year, I just can't seem to shake the idea of Detroit being abysmal)
Green Bay over Minnesota (The Vikings are the worst team in the NFL. And if they're not, they should be.)
Indianapolis over Houston (no brainer)
K.C. over Miami (how bizarre is it that Miami's still in the running in a division that includes New England and Buffalo? This game should drive the first real nail in our coffin St. Louis over N.O. (despite it's Kerouac-esque permanent on-the-road status, N.O. has particular trouble at "visitor" games)
Cincy over Pittsburgh (all hail the dark horse of the year. This game cements the Bengals' badass status as they beat the second place team in their division)
Philly over San Diego (Philly needs this and they know it)
Wash. over S.F. (the ghost of Joe Montana is crying. And Joe ain't even dead.)
Seattle over Dallas (tough call -- Dallas is underestimated)
Baltimore over Chicago (Big D!)
Buffalo over Oakland (another no brainer. Even with everyone healthy, Oakland would have a tough time here)
Denver over NY Giants (it pains me to say it, but I gotta)
Tenn. over Arizona (this irrelevant, Loserville game should prove its status by also being spectacularly dull)
Atlanta over NY Jets (the Jets suck, Atlanta doesn't. Nuff said)

I gotta do better here.
Detroit @ Cleveland - Fat lady will sing for Joey Harrington Green Bay @ Minnesota - Kitchen, I can't BELIEVE you didn't pick this.....FOR SHAME. Indianapolis @ Houston - League's best v. League's worst..hmmmmm Kansas City @ Miami - Miami in a kind-of shocker at home New Orleans @ St. Louis - Bulger and possibly Bruce out = Loss Pittsburg @ Cincinnati - Cincinnati meets a really good D San Diego @ Philadelphia - San Diego is an elite team San Francisco @ Washington - Mark Brunnell is starting to get it Dallas @ Seattle - I hate Bill Parcels Baltimore @ Chicago - Two shitty teams. Baltimore is less shitty. Buffalo @ Oakland - The Raiders weren't any good WITH Moss... Denver @ NY Giants - Denver's record is an anomoly. Time to come back down. Tennessee @ Atizona - Josh McCown starting to play well NY Jets @ Atlanta - The J...E...T...S... Jets.......S...U...C...K...Suck.

Detroit @ Cleveland (Too much uncertainty at the QB position for Detroit. Is Harrington starting, or Garcia? That spells trouble against a decent Cleveland defense.) Green Bay @ Minnesota (Green Bay isn't nearly as bad as people think, and if Minnesota couldn't stop the Bears' offense last week, they sure as hell won't stop Green Bay's.) Indianapolis @ Houston (The Indianapolis offense will probably get to sit out the entire 4th quarter after kicking the shit out of Houston in the first 3.) Kansas City @ Miami (With a short week, KC will take it b/c of their running game. Miami couldn't stop Pittman last week, and now they face Holmes and Johnson.) New Orleans @ St. Louis (No Bulger, no win. And New Orleans was impressive against ATL last week.) Pittsburgh @ Cincinnati (Huge Bengals fan, won't pick against them. Plus, the Steelers have a lot of injuries going on right now. And we're at home.) San Diego @ Philadelphia (McNabb and T.O. against a suspect Chargers secondary. Still a tough pick, but Philly is at home off a bye.) San Francisco @ Washington (Alex Smith tries it against a stout Washington D. Yeah right.) Dallas @ Seattle (Tough road game for Dallas, but I think they'll get it done on defense. If they can hold L.T. in check, they can hold Alexander. And Seattle's receiving corps is depleted due to injury.) Baltimore @ Chicago (Baltimore's D isn't great anymore, but still too good for the Bears O to do much of anything.) Buffalo @ Oakland (I like the Raiders at home, but don't really have a good reason.) Denver @ NY Giants (This is tough. Guess I'll go with the home team.) Tennessee @ Arizona (This game will be close I think. But gotta go with Tennessee.) NY Jets @ Atlanta (Jets are terrible. Atlanta's better at home.)

That helps me keep tabs on injuries. That's why I never make my picks until Friday or so, just so I have a good idea. Plus, I like to mull over the games all week.
I also watch Sunday NFL Countdown every Sunday, and Chris Mortensen always has the latest news on injuries, last-minute lineup changes, etc. That show is the reason I changed my pick this morning!
This day did not treat me kindly, either. My Bengals got their asses whipped, I think I may have lost in all 3 of my fantasy leagues, and I had my worst week of predictions yet, whether Atlanta wins tomorrow or not. And all on my birthday!

Too much work, not enough fun! Wish I could watch more pregame coverage but this weekend the kids kept me busy. That and I couldn't stand to watch the Vikes-Pack game so I got out of the house before the game started and didn't get back until late in the 2nd half.

Look at the games today. 5 of your (losing) picks could easily have gone the other way. They all went down to the wire.
There's still plenty of time to bounce back. We're not even halfway through the season. :)

New Orleans totally got robbed by the refs this week. The freaking guy was on the ground and the Rams grabbed the ball out of his hands and ran it in for a bogus TD! The Saints were running down the field against the Rams worthless D and were surely going to score the winning TD. I call bullshit on that one!
