| College Football National Championship: What's the solution? |
|
People hated the coaches' polls, so they created BCS.
Now people hate BCS.
Are playoffs doable in college? Is there any other solution that will settle it once and for all?

| 2. well, divisions II and III have playoffs |

I don't see why division one can't have them too. I just don't get it. I guess the existing bowls would have to be incorporated in some way, but that doesn't seem like such a difficult problem.

| 3. BCS/Playoff hybrid format |
|
I say just take the top 8 spots in the BCS rankings and use them to determine playoff seedings. It seems like just about everyone wants to see this except for the idiot league commissioners that would cry poverty over altering the existing bowl system. Does college basketball,or any other collegiate sport need a computer to help decide who gets to play for it all? HELL NO! My idea isn't perfect, but it would definitely prevent situations like Auburn winning out and having to sit out the title game.
