http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=105&topic_id=6344638&mesg_id=6344638I started this thread last night in the Lobby & got referred here. Looking around this message board has been great!! I saw the thread on cherry-picking which leads me to believe that maybe one or 2 of you are GGamers???

Anyway, yes, I do Grocery Game. I LOVE IT!
We save a lot of money using the GG system. Last Sunday I shopped Kroger and the bill totaled $156.27
After all coupons (remember Kroger doubles and triples coupons) and using the Kroger card, my final total was $91.80
Saved $64.47
This was a big shopping week. I've been doing this for so long that I have a good stockpile, so I don't really need to shop much every week.

| 2. I do it as much as I can but one thing I have noticed: |
|
Hold back using a newly issued coupon if the item is not on sale. In our area, it is common for stores not to place an item on sale in the first 2 or 3 weeks of coupon issue then, Bingo, a good sale and you can get a greater saving. I do that all the time with things like toothpaste, deoderant, floss and certain foodstuffs. Chicken broth is always free for me because I save the coupon for a dollar off 2, and they go on sale 3/1.00. Finesse works.
We do not shop as frequently as we did when the kids were still home and now it is even more necessary that we watch dollars. The timing of sales/coupons is in our favor.

saving money on groceries and the site was recommended. I use one supermarket mainly..Stop & Shop which is about a 10 minute drive. There is a Big Y which is about as close but in a different direction. These are both superstore type supermarkets. In addition I have a Better Valu which is a smaller store, an IGA, also smaller, both also close. Also within reasonable driving distance there is an A&P, a Shoprite, SuperWalmart and two other grocery stores. You would think that putting in your zip code all or at least most of these stores would come out for your area. Well, when I put in my zip only Stop & Shop, Shoprite and the A&P came up plus the local CVS. So it really wouldn't be worth it to me. I can figure out what's on sale in 3 stores. :eyes:
