I'll start. How about bookmarks for readers we know or cooks for their cookbooks?
I posted about fabric ones in the DIY forum. Slap some fabric together, do crazy stitching all over to hold the two fabrics together. Cut into rectangles and zigzag stitch around the edges. Upholstery scraps work great for this. I called to my local upholstery shop and asked for scraps. They gave me a bag for free.
Paper ones are even easier to make. Any carboard can be the base. Cut and paste on pictures in an artful way and end up poking a hole at the top with some ribbon or raffia or even thin strips of fabric as a tassle. Free wallpaper books are a great resource for any paper project.
