Our 2001 Camry's engine is shot. Need your advice!

It's going to cost $2500 to $3000 fix a car that keeps breaking down every couple of months. Our reliable and honest car repair guy says there's a hole in the engine.

Although our family of 4 owns 3 other Toyotas that we've been fairly lucky with, this Camry has always been a lemon. (I will never waste money on another so-called Toyota Certified used car.)

We can't afford to buy another car at this time, so my husband is going to commute by bus while we save up. The kids need their cars for college and work.

What would be the most money-wise way to dispose of the Camry? Sell it as is? Donate it to some organization? Donate it to the local high school auto-repair program? Something else? Any viable suggestions are welcomed.

I did some internet research last night and learned that 2001 Camrys and some other Toyotas are prone to engine failure due to oil sludge. As a result, Toyota has extended the engine warranty to 8 years, with no mileage limit. Our car is only 5 years old.

We're looking into whether our car is covered under this warranty. If not, we will look into your idea.
