A question about Lime Rock raceway in Connecticut
My family is looking to surprise my dad for his 60th birthday. He is a fairly large NASCAR fan, among other sports. My mom was thinking about doing one of those "go for a ride in a stock car" things, where my dad would take (or be taken for) a few laps at high speed.

They live in Connecticut, and while going to the Pocono Speedway is not entirely out of the question, Lime Rock is a hell of a lot closer (my mom hates long car rides).

Is there such a business at Lime Rock? Any links, names, advice, etc., you could gift upon me?

Thanks in advance!

1. Skip Barber holds schools at Lime Rock, but no Stock Car school does.
Here is a website that lists a number of Stock Car Schools. Looks like the nearest one to you would be Pocono.

Bertil Roos operates at other New England tracks, but they are primarily open wheel cars.

Like wise Skip Barber Racing Schools

Jim Russell operates Schools also.

The Buck Baker school has a very good reputation as does the Petty school, but they both operate at mostly southern tracks.

What you are probably looking for is something like the "StockCar Racing Experience" as opposed to a school. They run operations at Pocono. A little bit of classroom instruction, then into a car on the track. If I am not mistaken, this program requires you follow or "pace" another car in front of you. I've talked to several people that have done this sort of thing and they all said it was a blast.

Hope that helps

3. I think they run the Richard Petty Experience at New Hampshire
Yep, they do.

It's near the NH lakes district and makes a great summer vacation.
