Haven't ridden much since my early 20's but got into it a few months ago with my 4 year old Grandson and his PW50.
I've been thinking about buying an early 2000's Bike. Probably a Honda for a couple of reasons but the choices here in the Metroplex are plentiful and I still haven't decided on whether I want a 125 or a 250. I weigh 175'sh and have been riding my brothers back up early 90's CR250 most of the time. I like the power and the way it handles jumps. Also got to spend 1/2 a day last weekend on a '02 Kawasaki 125 and the other half on an "03 CR125. Had a blast. The Kawasaki wasn't running very good so I can't give it a nod but the Honda was scary fast. Geesh...man they've come a long way with suspensions and small power plants.
Anyway, my dilemma is an old one. 125CC .vs. 250CC I like both power bands for different reasons. Any tips. comments or suggestions appreciated.
By the way, I also have delayed gratification issues from my twenties about...68 Mustangs, Triumph TR6's and '03 Miata's.
Tennis anyone?:bounce::shrug::bounce::shrug::bounce:

My oldest son (dad to my little Grandson) just bought a '01 Yamaha Raptor 660 cc. on Ebay. They freighted it from CO to TX and we've been zoomin up and down the street. This thing is incredible.
Anyway, let's talk about your motorsport adventures sometime...

I'm a NASCAR nut. I'm not a beer swilling redneck and I'm not Southern. Most NASCAR drivers aren't either.
A handful of us tried to get some NASCAR conversations going in the Sports group but we got hammered by a few NASCAR bashers. I wasn't even aware that this group existed until just now. My hope is that the other NASCAR fans find this as well.

| 4. Me too- I live in the South but come from the north. I love |
|
nascar and football (Steelers). I am a die hard Kevin Harvick fan and have been since he took over for Dale. My northern best friend got me hooked on the sport. I hate how people on this forum are so quick to stereo-type. I am also a die hard Dem, a college grad and the mother of two great kids-neither of whom share my enthusiam for racing.

I'm caught between cheering for the Steelers and the Redskins since I like them both. Actually I'm a huge Joe Gibbs fan.
I will always be a Dale Earnhardt fan. I'm a diehard Steve Park fan and have been since Dale hired him. I like Kevin and I do cheer for him but I'm really a Robby Gordon fan. Martin Truex Jr has been my Busch series favorite and I'm excited about his future in the Cup series.
My son isn't into racing but his wife is. My daughter is a crazy race fan like I am. Since I live 1/2 hour from Pocono Raceway we ladies never miss qualifying day at the track.
I was born and raised a Dem and I'm a gray-haired great-grandmother. I don't come close to fitting the misguided stereotype. I hope we can attract other NASCAR fans to this group to help us survive until February. Thanks goodness for football.

| 6. As long as the Steelers go to the playoffs, I can wait, but I |
|
really miss it this time of year. I have never seen anyone else brae enough to admit their interest in Nascar, but if I do, I will invite them.

I've run across a few brave-hearted NASCAR fans at DU. If you can locate any sned them this way. I'd hate to see this group closed for lack of participation.

but I'd be an even bigger fan IF NASCAR put a woman behind the wheel! Look at what Danica Patrick has done for attendance and sales of IndyCar merchandise! Why won't they put a woman behind the wheel of an equal ride? What are the good ole boys afraid of? C'mon - let's see a woman at the Brickyard 400 in 2006 behind the wheel of a car and NOT wearing a pageant sash on a parade float. Give my 12 year old niece who loves racing something to aspire to! Any volunteers? I know there MUST be some great lady drivers running the short tracks and the dirt tracks throughout the Midwest; why can't they get a ride for the show? Anyone?

Keep an eye on Erin Crocker. Women in NASCAR have been a novelty and have been treated as such. Erin is having none of that nor is her car owner. Ray Evernham is slowly but deliberately helping her to develop her skills without exploiting her gender.
From what I've seen Danica Patrick is a pretty good driver. My problem with her is that she has allowed herself to be exploited.

| 10. Yep, but Danica's in a tough spot... |
|
if she doesn't exploit herself and stay popular, she loses her sponsorships. Would be nice to be recognized for talent (obviously), but without the equipment and the ride and the sponsors, we're off the race track and back in the stands. Thanks for the tip on Erin Crocker; I'll keep an eye out for her here in Indy!
