| OK. I'm asking for some help in changing my career path after 20 years. |
|
All I know is clinical research; last 8 years as a Project Manager. I got laid off 2 weeks ago and honestly - not sure I want to continue in this direction. My experience in clinical research runs the gamut from non-profit to small private company to most recently, a corporation, who after assurances my job was safe, laid me off.
I am stuck trying to write a resume which highlights my management skills and will allow me to transition out of clinical research. I don't have the money to hire someone to write it for me, so I have to figure it out for myself.
I know what I'm capable of; I know I've been a good employee everywhere I've ever worked. Not to toot my own horn, but I've been hired for every job I've ever interviewed for - I received the outstanding employee award last year (then I got laid off!!). With the economy in the gutter, I'm not so sure my luck will continue and I don't want to limit myself to clinical research.
Anyway - I'm not sure what I need to do; I want to be marketable and open to any management job. Advice or assistance would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Find the area or direction you think you want to go in - then Research what the job ads ask for in that field - research project management jobs and what they are asking for in their Wish lists - the research skills are also a good transferable skills - there are lots of hints and help on transitioning and writing resumes - start with looking at career builder and yahoo and monster for forums and what is out there - then find your own path for finding what you are looking for
