The Working Families Party in Oregon drew 129,000 votes for J. Ashlee Albies, its Attorney General candidate. Albies says for a two year old party focused on working class economic issues the vote is encouraging.
: “Didn’t do a tremendous amount of outreach in the past couple of years, but the response from people across this state was astounding, to the extent that the values of this party resonate with voters across this state. So that gives us a lot of hope for organizing working folks in this state.”
The Working Families Party agenda in Oregon includes affordable health care, the right to organize unions, affordable housing, support for fair trade, and promotion of green jobs.
