UFCW LAUNCHES NEW PHASE OF OUR WALMART WORK |
|
From email.
WASHINGTON – UFCW is pleased to announce the launch of a new Walmart campaign. “Making Change at Walmart,” the new campaign, represents the many ways in which the UFCW will engage Walmart associates and the company. This change marks a big transition in the union’s Walmart work, one that reflects an increased focus on supporting Walmart associates in their efforts to gain respect and fix the challenges they face in their stores every day.
“The time is right to launch a new phase of our Walmart work,” said UFCW International President Joe Hansen. “The U.S. economy is fast becoming a service-sector economy and, of course, Walmart is the largest service-sector employer. As the retail union, our members, and all workers in the retail sector are depending on us to ensure that retail jobs are stable, and that middle-class jobs come with affordable, quality health care, wages that pay the bills, and retirement security.”
For more information about how to get involved with Making Change at Walmart, and to sign-up for campaign updates, visit www.ufcw.org/makingchange.
Recognizing that it is also vital to continue to hold Walmart publicly accountable for how its business model harms workers and communities, Walmart Watch (www.walmartwatch.org) has been reinvigorated as a UFCW brand. Walmart Watch will continue to educate policymakers, media and communities about the impact of Walmart in America and across the globe.
