This is so cool, look what the Dems did in MAINE!!!! |
|
Top of the page. This is really cool: the labor mural that Gov. LePage removed from the Maine Dept. of Labor now serves as the banner of the Maine Democratic Party site. http://www.mainedems.org/

That mural should be reproduced EVERYWHERE, so that the asshole governor can't get away from it. It should be in his face EVERYWHERE he turns.

What dad actually said was ask people why the vote the way they do:
Republicans tend to answer "because my parents were or my uncles or my family has always been"
Democrats answered "because I stand for the working man."
I really miss the old man.....

(at least not extensively), but it seems that local and state Democratic Parties are getting the picture (pun intended:)). This is a "Who's side are you on?" moment and we're on the side of the working class.

couldn't just slowly and quietly screw workers in his state, he had to do something that got him on national news. Workers and Democrats have been sorely underestimated by these jerks. How complacent did they think people were?

28. His antics may be problematic for Olympia Snowe's re-election prospects |
|
Snowe is already walking a fine line between the moderate and Tea Party elements in the state. If she is on record for expressing support for the governor's policies, she risks alienating the middle (and a few potential Democratic crossover voters as well). If she decides to distance herself from the jerk, then the Tea Party throws her under the bus. Since Snowe has moved somewhat to the right over the course of the past 2 years, Maine Democrats should seize the opportunity and do everything they can to tie these two together. She either accepts this association at a cost, or refutes it at a cost. Either way, the Republican brand becomes a liability in a state that has historically been less partisan and more independent.

30. I hadn't thought of that |
|
Things are getting very interesting. These GOP politicians have gotten so used to catering to tea party nuts, they evidently think everyone is that stupid.
One can tell that a lot of these governors made promises to donors (mostly Koch brothers) in order to get elected and no matter how the public reacts, they have to do as they've been told. There's a whole lot of sweating going on behind closed doors these days.

I sure like the billboard idea. Wonder if there's a sign workers union that would volunteer the labor? Maybe there's a billboard Co. that's sympathetic to labor OR has a grudge against LeDunce, er LePage.

This excellent and very relevant mural should never have been pulled from the Dep't of Labor in Maine. The removal was the willful infliction of an indignity to supporters of labor, and had nothing to do with substantive policy or the finances of the state. It was a symbolic back-handed slap in the face by a crackpot Tea-tard governor both as a punishment to us "libruls" and for asserting his authority. Very immature.
This should *NOT* be reduced to a web site banner. Posters should be made of it and stealth protesters should go out every night with wheat paste and plaster these things on every surface they can find. (Don't lecture me about vandalism.)
Some rich mogul on our side of this issue should rent a billboard - or two - or three - and put enlarged versions of this up around Augusta, preferably in plain sight of the state capital so this hurtful pig of a governor will have to see it every day. Hopefully, it'll also be in the face of those "big business" leaders who claim great offense at seeing it when the visit the labor department (which I'm sure they did frequently).
Make no mistake - this nothing to do with not offending the business community. Republicans are out not only to eliminate unions, but to eliminate from plain view, from the public consciousness and from history, the role of organized labor in the success of America.
Fuck Paul LePage. Fuck conservative evil.
(Can you tell I'm still a bit irked by this?)
