I have to tell the truth. There were hard times Marta and I had as parents that the food pantry was the only way to put dinner on the table. We put enough food out to feed a family of 4 for a week with some other items like toilet paper. Still waiting to hear the national total.

Letter carriers in Omaha collected more than 40,000 pounds of non-perishable food Saturday during the 18th year of the campaign to Stamp Out Hunger.
Roger Humphries, spokesman for the Omaha Post Office, said 41,036 pounds of food was collected for the Heartland Food Bank. That amount of food will translate into 32,036 meals, Humphries said.
Postal carriers in all 50 states take part in what has come to be the nation’s largest one-day food drive. The effort is sponsored by the National Association of Letter Carriers and the U.S. Postal Service.
