COUNCIL BLUFFS — The Council Bluffs school board Tuesday approved collective bargaining agreements with two unions, ending this year's negotiations
The Communications Workers of America and the Service Employees International Union employees recently ratified their agreements. The board vote means employees will see an increase in pay and benefits packages, including larger district contributions to insurance benefits.
The settlements with the unions include a 3.2 percent overall package increase. Both associations chose to increase the health insurance contribution amounts to keep up with the increased cost of premiums.
Employees of both unions will be awarded an additional four hours of personal leave for a total of two days each school year. The increase in salary for the CWA is 2.2 percent, while the SEIU chose to take the increase as an hourly across-the-board raise of 42 cents an hour.
