Findlay Union to picket, file charge with national labor board FINDLAY — Picketing is expected to begin Tuesday by workers locked out of a Findlay factory by Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. About 1,050 workers represented by the United Steelworkers were not permitted into the plant Monday — the day after they rejected a tentative labor agreement that included pay cuts and higher insurance premiums. The nation’s fourth-largest tire manufacturer told arriving workers that the plant was on “extended holiday shutdown,” and later in the day issued a statement saying it would continue production using temporary workers. The union said Monday night it would pursue unfair labor practice charges against the company with the National Labor Relations Board. Union District Director Dave McCall said the union is committed to negotiating a fair contract at the plant, which makes tires for pickup trucks.
Now bringing in out of state scabs. CEO gets millions in bonus.

2. The Findlay plant makes truck tires. |

They have, in recent years moved some operation to China and Mexico. Goodyear is an American company and there are several others.

In Topeka, KS when struck by Steelworkers. Brought in desperate unemployed from all over and put them up in hotels while they attempted to build tires. A tire is not just rubber poured into a mold...it is a complex assembly operating under extreme conditions and responsible not just for YOUR safety and your family's, but also the safety of everyone else on the road. I would certainly love to depend on the "skill" of a temporary worker, in most cases supervised by people who themselves never built a tire, ran a banbury, mill, extruder, calander, shear or any of the other equipment used in the process.
