| Anyone here been to Greece in the summer? My daughter and |
|
hubby plus the two kids will be making a trip to Greece in August. It is a fairly last minute thing and I know they have not had time to plan properly. They will have only 5 days on the ground and want to see whatever they can, rest on some sandy beaches and generally enjoy this unexpected happening.
Other than the obvious travel books and sites, which they will have little time to read, does anyone have any good suggestions as to places to stay-2 stars or higher, plus local(ish) sights to see. The Acropolis is obvious, what else did you enjoy.
I told my daughter that I would try and find out some quick ideas for them. Will start on the travel sites shortly but DUers give good advice, so here was my first place to inquire.
Thanks

I went on a tour of Italy and Greece in August, and it was terribly hot the further south we went. The beaches are good, but crowded, topless, if you like that, and you have to pay for your beach chair! Also, that's the month everyone in Europe (who have employer-paid extensive holidays!) takes off, so is more crowded than usual. But the skies are bright blue, the water is spectacular, and it's cooler onboard a ship, so include some cruising around the Greek Islands. I love the Greek temple ruins, myself. Wear cotton, sandals, and a hat! Avoid the unairconditioned buses.
