Let's talk about Chavez.
Edited on Thu Sep-21-06 06:40 PM by Cleita
Some think Chavez shouldn't have called Bush a devil, but Nancy Pelosi comes around and calls him a thug. What's the difference? Also, Chavez is a legitimately elected President of Venezuela. We honestly aren't sure about Bush's legitimacy. Yet, Charlie Rangel says that he should have more respect for the office of the President, even if he doesn't like Bush. So shouldn't Pelosi be respecting the office of the President of Venezuela too even if she doesn't like Chavez?

This kind of American entitlement has soiled relations in Latin America as long as I can remember. The United States, particularly the entitled white population and leadership just can't seem to show any respect to the leaders of those countries in the rest of the Americas if they aren't dancing to the tune they are singing.

It amazes me that even Democrats are so quick to line up behind the RW corporate smears of Chavez as being gospel and true.

1. US foreign policy HAS been Demonic.toward
Latin America. Everyone's just freaked out at Chavez's courage at the UN. IMO, his dialog was perfect. That's not a popular opinion because AmeriKans have not faced the truths of the consequences of our actions for years.

2. It's said that he is anti-Israel and that is why we here in the USA
are supposed to hate him. I am having a hard time trying to find out if he is really anti-Israel or just against the present right wing neo-cons who are in power in Israel, like we have here.

It seems no one is allowed to question Israel's policies about anything these days and anyone who does is not only against Israel, but against the USA and anti-semitic as well.

I personally don't need my enemies list dictated to me and I hope no one else does either.

3. Bingo! I completely agree. Mr. Chavez is leading the way
against BushCo, against the Cabal. Everyone knows it. He's the most exciting leader in the Americas, if not in the world.

And the Democrats keep digging themselves in deeper, reacting not responding. They *let* the Republicans set the terms of the debate. People have tried to argue that this is a wise move just before an election.

It isn't wise to keep contributing to the equity of your opposition!

But, on the other hand, I'm a far left moonbat. :)

Have you guys seen Greg Palast's piece on Chavez v. The United States? It's remarkable -- Greg is a genius. He lays it ALL OUT. There is no mistaking what BushCo is trying to do in Venezuela.

4. Do you have a link?
I know he said he had just gotten back from Venezuela last week, but I have yet to see what he wrote about it.

8. Benito Juarez would be proud of Chavez

9. I think this is the only nation who has tried to smear him
as some sort of banana republic tin dictator, which is not true. He is admired all through Latin America. The USA better get with the program. Latin America isn't going to let the USA own them anymore. I think Chavez was quite clear about that.

10. airport officials take "balls" metaphor literally
Did you see the news? Government officials at JFK airport stripped the Venezuelan foreign minister. The idiots took the metaphor literally and wanted to see if all Venezuelans eran tan machos.

And typical of cowards and the ilk of the administration, they lied about it at first.

"US authorities initially denied Mr Maduro had been detained and his documents seized, saying he had simply been asked to go through a second security screening."

Speaking of pendejos, I'm sure your local newspaper headlines read like the LATimes' today:
Iraq War Has Spread Terror, Agencies Say
By Greg Miller
The conflict has fueled extremism and served as a laboratory for deadly tactics, says a bleak analysis by 16 U.S. intelligence units.

nation states for this god awful behavior.

Is there no depth we will not sink to?

I hope you managed to keep cool. It was warm out here on the San Francisco beach. That's one of the signs of the Apocalypse.
