I am glad to see this forum up and hope many of us latinos/latinas will be able to share our experienses politically and otherwise.
I am a first generation Mexican-American, born and raised in Oakland. I am 67 years old and have always been active in politics from a very early age. My first election that I was able to vote in was when I cast my vote for John F. Kennedy. One of the sadest days of my life was Nov 22, 1963.

| 1. Bien venido, augie. That was sort of my first election, too, |

except at four, I was too young to vote. My mom was still studying for her citizenship then but she walked for JFK anyway in our neighborhood. I was born on Pill Hill. :hi:

| 2. I missed that election because I was four months shy of |
|
my twenty-first birthday. I never got a chance to vote for him again.

I am a 50 year old of Puerto Rican heritage born and raised in Massachusetts. My first presidential vote went to Jimmy Carter in 1979. I hope this forum group florishes.

The first time I voted was in 1972, It was the first election that people who were 18, 19 and 20 could vote. I was 19, and my first election I voted in was the Democratic primary. I voted for Shirley Chisholm and the ERA in that election. I always vote for my dream candidate in the primary, and besides Jimmy Carter, my candidate never wins. I still love Jimmy Carter.
