I am having an ultra sound fine needle asperation of

my lymph node because the doc saw a lymphnode on the MRI. Has anyone heard of any of these being non cancerous or did my survival rate just take a nose dive because this cancer went from isolated in my breast, spreading to my lymphnodes? I just want to crawl under the covers and never come out. All I have done is cry all day. I have been on the wrong side of the statistics through this whole nightmare, If only 30% will have a bad thing happen to them you can bet it will be me! And it has nothing to do with my attitude, I have been EXTREEMELY positive through this entire thing. This was just the kick in the face I wasn't ready for. And now I feel like I am never going to be free of this and it will kill me eventually if this is cancer and I am sure it is. He wouldn't have ordered the test if he didn't think is wasn't.

1. I'm sorry you are feeling so discouraged

If your doctor was sure it was cancer, he'd want to remove the nodes altogether, wouldn't he? He must think there's a good chance it hasn't spread I bet.

i think it's a good sign that the doc is doing the fine needle asperation vs. a biopsy. i understand your discouragement right now, but i am claiming the best possible outcome for you.
sometimes it's hard to "stay positive" when facing such frightening uncertainty. :hug:

My wife had breast cancer and some lymph nodes involved 23 years ago. Chemo, radiation, doing fine. Kick those statistics!! Best wishes....

lots of good information there, and they also have a chat room where you can talk to other people in various stages of dealing with breast cancer. they have some good places on the site to discuss issues that we all go through, e.g., waiting for test results.

i couldn't have gotten thru my treatment without that site. check in when you can :hug:

5. Diagnosed stage 2 IDC + 1 lymph node Nov. 06

It wasn't hormone receptive. Had Stage 2 hormone receptive in the other breast, no lymph node involvement. Had a bilateral mastectomy with removal of 15 nodes on one side, 3 on the other plus dose dense A/C+T chemo. None of this was fun, but bearable. It's been almost two years and so far I'm fine.

I was able to get through the bad times with the help of experienced DUers and with the info and the gals at
http://www.breastcancer.org.

Just because they find a positive lymph node doesn't mean it has gone any further. I've had PET, MRI and CAT scans which all have shown no evidence of cancer anywhere else.

6. Thinking of you, Robyn

My wife has been through it, so I have been through it. I have been amazed at the progress made in treatments for the disease. A few days ago, I was in the same boat. I found a spot on a testicle, went to the doctor, he found it too. Sent me in for blood tests and referred me to a urologist. He called the next day and said my white blood cell count was a little high. That's all he said. Scared the holy bejeebus out of me. I waited for week to see the urologist, dreading that moment when he discovered the lump, seeing the look on his face, and whaap!

I was first in yesterday at 8:00 am. His office was freezing! When I was called to an examination room, my heart was racing.
I dropped my pants, he asked a few questions, examined me, and told me to pull up my pants. He said I had a spermatocele, which is a cyst in the epididimus, not cancer, and will never be cancer. Wasn't large enough for surgery, no treatment necessary, unless it grew larger.

Like with my wife's breast cancer, six year survivor, we expected the worst, prayed for the best. I was luckier than she was, but even her ordeal worked out fine. And yours will, too. The odds are in your favor. I know that does not take away the fear, nothing does. It does help to talk about your journey. I recommend BCANS, a website for women with breast cancer. Some have had it, some have it, and some are waiting to see if they have it. They can answer just about any question you have! We have made many friends there that we still communicate with, today. Google it. Great place!

I know how you feel. I'm in the same boat with you. :hug: After tons of tests they can't find the primary. I'm frustrated, enraged, everything.

Don't give up - I know I need to follow my own advice. I feel pretty hopeless too since the Hemo/Med/Onc told me 3 years.
