Results. No answers.

I received the results from the biopsy yesterday. I have cancer in both breasts. The Breast Oncologist can't see me until Nov. 29. Waiting to learn more about the stage and the course of action is going to be frustrating. I've spent hours researching the web for information, but without a diagnosis I am spinning wheels. To top it off, I am seeing an OBGYN Oncologist for a suspicious fibroid on Monday. I am happy to know that this group exists.

I was just diagnosed with cancer this week too. The wait for more answers is excrutiating. I'm keeping you in my thoughts and prayers as you wait and holding good thoughts about your fibroid as well.

Researching breast cancer can be terrifying, especially if you don't know your staging, etc.
Heck,it can be terrifying even if you do know.
To me, knowledge is power...I did the same thing.
With all your research,you are probably now prepared to ask your doctor some really good questions. Writing them down might help you feel a little more prepared for when you see the doc and most of all, might help your mind relax a bit.

Journaling my fears and concerns for a little bit each day helped me a lot, too.
Don't hesitate to ask your doctor for a prescription of xanax or valium to help get you thru some of the tests and the waiting. My OB/GYN prescribed some for me before I ever left the office.

Don't forget to breathe. Take some really deep breaths every once in awhile. Take some walks. Listen to your favorite music, watch your favorite movies. Eat a big chunk of chocolate. Play with some toys.
I've rediscovered my long-lost yo-yo skills. :D

I just had some chocolate and I'm recording "Lost In Translation" to watch later. Toys? Guess they would be my garden tools.

I have added a list of questions that I got from the Bloch Foundation (recommended site I found through this forum) to my little list.

No xanax yet, but I did some wine last night with friends. It was a therapudic happy hour. I may need xanax to get through work and through the Thanksgiving trip to see my RW relatives. :-) I have so much work to complete at the office. I'm hoping it will keep my mind focused on clients and not my dilemma.

What kind of cancer did you or do you have?

5. They should be able to give you a diagnosis

If they've done a biopsy and mammograms or other scans, they have your diagnosis.

Call and ask them to see your pathology report. Then, if there is another cancer center in your area, call and make an appointment for a second opinion.

I will jump on your advise first thing tomorrow. I need to pick up a packet from the radiologist to take to the oncologist. Surely the pathology report will be included. If not I will make sure I get a copy.

let me know if there is anything I can do. Seven years ago I was diagnosed with stage 4.

As of right now, you are a survivor and you must keep that mindset. Never let the stage/diagnosis get to you. It's frustrating not to be able to find the information you want on line. I hope you will be able to talk to a Breast Care Coordinator and will have a breast buddy. The women in your breast buddy group will help you feel grounded when you are going through the biggest, worst roller coaster life experience you can ever imagine. The women in my breast buddy group told me about ginger tea, how short to get my hair cut before chemo. They were there to laugh and to cry with me and I still believe they saved my life.

I will be sending positive thoughts your way and also will light a candle for you every night. You have joined a sisterhood you never thought you would but you will find yourself bonded with thousands of women.

Please keep me/us informed. If you want to email me, just let me know. There has been no return of my cancer anywhere. Remember you are now a cancer survivor.
