I love local politics: random appreciation thread |

I really can't get enough of it. I've gotten alot more involved on the local level, sometimes federal races don't register that much on my radar. More, more, MORE!

I LOVE local politics in my city. The demographic is pretty evenly split, so when I work my butt off and we win, I *know* I made a difference.
Last election the dem County Commissioner won by only 95 votes, retaining the majority for the dems :woohoo:
I did a fair bit of turnout work, so I know my effort was crucial to that victory, that every door knock, every phone call helped.

5. I feel like I matter in local politics. |

In national politics, it just isn't going to happen. I like knowing my State Rep's cell number!

I love the local stuff. I was very involved with our town elections last fall. It was a difficult transition when it was over. I have already jumped into the 2008 congressional race in our district, and that is now filling my void. Congressional races are kind of local.

I don't get as excited passionate about state issues as I do those that are federal. The biggest difference is that the candidate can know who you are if you are just a door knocking volunteer. I do the newsletter for my senate district and I always consider the Congressional candidate one of our locals.
