Rovey fancies himself as this Neo-Machiavelian braniac. It's simultaneously pathetic and funny to watch himself desperately try to maintain this public image, even as his predictions and schemes have largely gone wrong. He's only ever correct on the most obvious things, because he's a tool of the bankers and is playing with house money. Great job!
