By issuing hundreds of signing statements, they managed to give their offices more power than any administration in history. When Obama took office eight years later, we assumed that he would reverse the policies and direction of the previous administration, but as we’ve seen, he’s only continued the policies of Bush and Cheney. Sam Seder talks about the sweeping expansion of executive powers with Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Charlie Savage.

My greatest disappointment in Obama is that we are still having this discussion three years after his election. Instead of restoring the rule of law, he has ratified and expanded the crimes of the Bush Junta.
