They would have to be paid by that entity for the over-time.
Somebody has to look at the monthly accounting when payroll is voted on in that city or burgh. Any local government that would approve such over-time isn't doing their jobs.

|
Aren't cops paid for by the tax payers? In this video, is the book store paying extra for these cops? Aren't the folks protesting probably tax payers (and everyone who buys things from a store is a tax payer, too)? I pay taxes in my community. It should go for the betterment of the community, not as a security system for private companies. The stores can call if there is a problem, but it seems like a waste of tax money to have public police on private property. And aren't there a lot of communities with tax revenue issues? Hmmm....

All of those cops for a small book (it should be considered fiction) signing? Fascism is alive in America.

During the show Beck hosted right after this incident he seemed quite frazzled and repeatedly screeched hysterically, much to the amusement of his cohost. This short Youtube video shows just one example.

...unless you're pulling down well over $2 million a year, can pay for your health care/hospitalization out of pocket, can pay the full ride for your kid to go to college, and are paying well under 15% on income taxes, yes you are. The fact that you're standing in line, paying for a book and to hear this jackass lie to you says that you are the 99%, but you're so far up in your own personal Stockholm syndrome that you can't see daylight.

A wanna-be wingnut blogger, apparently.
And what useful idiots those people were who were there to have Beck sign their books. It always surprises me to see that there are actually people who fall for his crap.

I don't think they really "read" his books, but they know that there is "a black man in the white house". And Glenn told them that that's not good.

These young people really give me some hope. Follow these bastards everywhere!
And I love how the female pig said "OUT!" to the guy as she was pushing him out the door. Fuck these little fascists. This is the endgame of the red/blue polarization in this country. Everybody's gotta pick a side for real now and it's painfully obvious where the "peace" officers are.

Poor Glenny. Have people NO shame? Of course, Beck doesn't have any, so I guess disrupting his book peddling is fair game!
Too bad I couldn't have been there to decorate his bus with a couple dozen eggs!

| 26. Were those private or local... |
|
were those private security or local police? Believe me, in my time i have seen many private security who you could swear they were regular cops the way they were dressed. Either way, however, they are only doing their job. So many people here always like to jump and say who are they working for and typical fascist pigs and etc etc. Their job is to maintain order inside that establishment. So what?
Do I agree what those protestors were saying? Absolutely, 100 %. But if i had been there with them I wouldn't expect our protest to last more than a few seconds too. But we would have made our point as they escort us out, only doing their jobs. What if the "protestor" was someone that we DUers would consider disruptive? Wouldn't we want these cops/security people doing their job?
I'll give you a real example from my own life: I was at a book signing for Stephen Colbert's "I Am America and So Can You" years back, in New York City. I was literally the first person in line (lol, I have no life ;-) ) and waited for hours and hours. By the time I left there must have been 500+ people in line snaking through the store and out into the mall. When Stephen finally came (apparently he was arriving late from an award show) some guy, a 9/11 "truther," who had literally been hiding in the little press box as a journalist i guess instead of waiting in line like the rest of us, jumped out and starting spouting about tower 7. Are you shitting me? Really? Toward Stephen Colbert? He's a fucking TV personality you lunatic! "What about tower 7, Stephen??" he kept shouting over and over. In a matter of seconds, of course, the bookstore's security people grabbed him and escorted him out, with most of us cheering in the front. He got grabbed and ejected because, aside from being an A-hole, for disturbing the order in there. Should he have been allowed to continue and disrupt the book signing?
Getting ejected is part of the protest process, imo.
