1. Fine with me. That is where he belongs. I firmly believe that paranoid schizophrenics |
|
are not served, nor is society, by handling their severe crimes within the penal system. They are a threat to themselves AND society, but they lack harmful intent. They, like small children, are not like you and me who CAN understand reality and be held accountable for our deeds.
I have plenty of experience with this. My mom was schizophrenic and we had our hands full for the past 40 years.

3. He wasn't in his right mind. Would you have a mentally ill person put to death?? |
|
Edited on Sat Dec-03-11 08:16 PM by kestrel91316
Or put into a jail where he won't get any psychiatric care??
Permanent institutionalization under lock and key is the only appropriate way to handle violent schizophrenics.
When you have personally dealt with an immediate family member who has severe delusions then perhaps you can come back and talk. Until then, I consider you a hatemonger who knows not one whit about this subject.

5. But they do have physhiatric care in those prisons |
|
This isn't the US we're talking about here, it's Norway. They don't have the death penalty and their prisons are geared toward rehabilitation of inmates. While he would be in either institution for the rest of his life, the better choice would be to put him in the institution that isn't going to pump him full of drugs.
And he didn't have delusions or hallucinations. He was very cold and calculating about the whole thing, going so far as to write out detailed publicity plans for how a person doing what he was about to do should try to get maximum media exposure. The closest thing you could honestly assert is that he had massive delusions of grandeur but what sociopath doesn't?

And then on YouTube. Why did the OP include a poll sponsored by Newsmax embedded into the DU video?
