I'm taking my son on a school sponsored trip

and yesterday the teacher in charge just wanted to touch base with me that if he has any problems he will be sent home.

My son has had some Asperger, sensory integration dysfunction related panic attacks - mainly triggered by bullying this year and it made the school nervous. Since he's been on medication and we made some classroom changes he hasn't even come close to a panic attack. We've discovered he works much better with older more established teachers - the ones that aren't out to prove anything and are truly interested in what is best for each student.

I do intend to have at least one more discussion with this teacher and will point out to him that if my son isn't bullied there won't be a problem and that if there is I fully expect ALL kids involved get sent back. The kids all know my son well enough to know what to do to push him over the edge, all things they have to go our of their way to do, so if there is a problem more than one will be flying home. If the teacher thinks it's too much for him to handle he can arrange for the $2000 to be refunded.

1. Is your son eager to go?

The school is obliged to make reasonable accommodations, even on a trip. The fact that you're going to be with him should be enough. The teacher's comments indicate a predjudicial attitude on his part.

Kids aren't dumb. If they know that the odd kid will be sent home as a result of their own misbehavior, they've been given a get out of jail free card.
