Insurance is denying therapist visits |
|
First they won't cover them under the autism label so they go because they are moderately to severely depressed. Now because the therapist went to a new office the 25 years she's been covered isn't good enough. It makes me insane. The boys have made a lot of progress with her and now we will either have to pay for it out of pocket or change therapists. Changing therapist is out of the question due to there being few that work with NLD or Aspergers and regular therapy isn't effective for their depression - if you don't understand the underlying cause it's hard to be effective.

Given the number of quacks out there who think the symptoms ARE the "underlying causes", the insurance industry has to look at the doctors as much as they do everybody else.
I was damn lucky I found someone competent who went the extra mile. She wasn't surprised when I told her some of the things I was misdiagnosed with. (Aspies frequently are misdiagnosed, and sometimes with the most interesting maladies. We don't see or hear things, yet despite the lack of those primary qualifiers we're still diagnosed as "schizophrenic", "schizo-typical", and other related disorders. Um, no you money grubbing ho, don't read the cue card, get to know people before blindly stamping them with something!!...)

2. I can't tell you the number of therapists we have had for our son |
|
it has been excruciating...
finally got one therapist that I really like but my luck she will go elsewhere when she finds a better and more stable job...which would be great for her but be horrible for my son...

3. I have yet to find an effective therapist |
|
for my son.
He sees a psychiatrist once every month for his medication ( Adderall) but I don't think he's getting that much help from the sessions.
It's very, very frustrating!

Your son is the one he should talk to. And he should talk to you, also.
Good luck with the new psychiatrist.
I know how hard it is to find a good one.
