I read Discover Magazine which prints a lot of conflicting reports on research. The previous two articles were unnerving and I shared them with my family but thought it might be good to get more discussion.

The definitions keep changing. There is no way a GP could make an accurate diagnosis.
Good diagnosis and therapy is almost impossible to find and prohibitively expensive.
Most of today's doctors, even specialists cannot comprehend multiple conditions.
Being Autistic does not make you immune to life's traps chemical dependency, emotional or behavioral problems that can hit anyone and even mental illness.
American society is unnecessarily toxic to a lot of Americans.
I do not believe that Autism causes people to murder. I read that there are 18% of the population that are capable of killing with little regret. We are kept in check by laws, religion and consequences. A certain small percent of the population is inherently violent or become violent through life experience. Some of them are bound to be Autistic. A certain percent of the population is affected more by stress which is why not everyone gets PTSD.
We need to do better for all people so that more have a chance at life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness but I fear the economic melt down and Obama wanting to privatize all health insurance will make it worse.
Good thoughts to all those struggling in this life of ours.
