There is no Racism

anyone else notice the many posts claiming it's about class not race. i think there are some Obama haters who want to legitimize any critics of Obama.there were some posts sympathetic to the teabaggers trying to claim they were on our side.

these people are trying to make Obama out to be someone who grew up in some easy privileged life.

they hate Obama so much they feel connected to anyone who hates Obama including the racists like teabaggers. so they start with the crap about how it's about class, not race.

there was one specific thread that got a bunch of recs which just disgusted me.

1. Heh, yeah ...

I noticed that some of the most overt racists in our midst claim that quite frequently and loudly.

The closeted racists have been coming out of the woodwork lately, though.

That said, there is something to the claim of class. The problem with the argument is that the "class" of people most negatively affected by this, that, and the other thing just happen to be minority ethnic groups, notably blacks. So, it *is* about race, but so many who claim colorblindness *think* themselves to be of the oppressed "class" and fail utterly how much their white skin has privileged them throughout their lives.

I mean, we have active threads *right now* on *this* website in which people are claiming they are overtaxed and being "forced" to support lazy, no good "inner city" good-for-nothings. (Inner city is, of course, a racial dog whistle.) There are threads in which it is claimed that affirmative action has no place in modern American society; Obama's election proves it.

I could go on.

This place is full of self-involved fools who think "struggle" involves having to go to the library to use broadband Internet.

2. The whole thing is disgusting..here

we have a Democratic President out there workng to undo all kinds of shit that was done to our country in the name of evil and all over DU..all you see are cheap pot shots not worth the bandwidth.

There is fucking racism and fucknig ignorance and it's not only on the right.

...just don't ever imply that Kucinich can be criticized similarly - suddenly they will concoct all sorts of justifications as to why he should have 'special minority' status & should thus be beyond criticism. There are times when my eyes roll so badly, I swear they do a somersault in my head - lol.
