Lawrence O'Donnell said Cantor was taking a page from Rove's handbook -- |
|
Blaming your opponent for what you yourself are doing. And, of course, lying, in the knowledge that once the lie is out it is forever truth for most people.
I can't remember when I've been as angry as I am at this moment. When I listen to the phone calls our elected Representatives are getting. When I think of their families. When I think of my own Congressmen, and what fine men they are, and assuming they are getting these calls.
And then to have the Republicans accuse the Democrats of hyping this extremely dangerous situation and making it worse! How far outside the boundaries of normal political discourse are these people going to go? How far from the usual parameters of our democracy are they going to stray?
What makes these callers think they speak -- with their searing, hateful, cruel words, their profanity -- for all Americans? Where is the decency in any of these people, whether on an anonymous phone call, or on the floor of the Senate?
What may be coming in the next days, or weeks? Is it a question of if, or when, something tragic occurs?
I can't believe what is happening to our country.

2. The Republicans didn't only accuse the Dems of hyping it |
|
They accused the Dems of causing it. There was a guy on Shuster's show the other day who was trying to get me to believe that it was Democrats, not Tea Baggers, who made those calls. He completely denied that Tea Baggers had any racist intentions because he himself had never seen a "black man lynched" at a Tea Bagger rally. And, the worst part was, he's black. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=385&topic_id=447427&mesg_id=447427:hi:, DMM. Nice to see you!

Thanks for taking my thoughts one step further. You're right -- they DID accuse Dems of actually causing the stuff that's happening.
And I watched the video. Now that's not only disgusting, but truly bizarre. It's a strange, scary time we're going through.
