This Iran report presser is demonstrating some interesting information about this Admin
FWIW, I honestly believe GW Bush did NOT get the NIE until last week. It was witheld by someone and our pretzeldent was suspended out in space these past few months spewing his warmongering for... what reason? By whom?

And someone else made the decision to release that report - not our pretzeldent, I would bet. Gates and/or whoever Gates works for? Bush is simply trying to CYA right now as he has been outmaneuvered. "Someone" powerful doesn't want war with Iran at this time, and they have shut down the faction that does.

The players are moving their chessmen (man?) around in public right now and there is an interesting opportunity here for politically savvy people to gain more insight into whose doing the moving.

3. I agree big time....

This is really big. In the past Cheney was over at the CIA 'harassing' analysts to get the report he wanted. Something big has been going on behind the scenes.

Maybe years from now we will hear about a 'showdown' much like the one with Gonzo at the hospital and the threat of the leadership of the justice department resigning.

A seismic shift has occurred.

4. or that's what they want us to believe...
I won't buy a seismic shift in the direction of this country until a few select individuals are sitting in the Hague.

8. Heh. Yep, Cheney just got suckerpuched by whoever released this report.
So who are the players on the other side who got this NIE report out there?

THEY interest me very much. Who belongs to this group....

10. I am beginning to believe that Poppy has finally stepped in too
After watching and waiting, I am starting to think that Poppy's group has finally stepped in to squash the son.

I know Gates is Poppy's man but it's fascinating that Poppy may have chosen this very public demonstration of kneecapping his own son.... Can it be?!

I have to admit it's almost like watching a car wreck... can't look away.

Excellent point, I tend to agree with this. Something is "afoot" and it would BEHOOVE
the freakin journalists/movie stars of the press and any serious journalist left out there to start digging, digging, digging.

11. Do you think it could have been Condi?
I've been reading about how her and Cheney don't see eye to eye. Maybe he wanted to go full-force against Iran in the coming weeks and Condi had the smoking gun to stop all this insanity.

16. As I mention below, the think tanks are oddly silent--you'd think they'd be all over this report.
Virtually nothing out of any of them, not HF, not CATO, not AIPAC even--in the last three weeks.

The think tanks are where the RW Noise Machine gets their talkers and talking points. For them to not have something prepped with the talking points is beyond weird, it really is.

Condi? Wow, maybe. She still has to have a career once she leaves the WH--you can almost see the younger staffers lurch into self-preservation mode the closer 2009 gets...

23. Silence all around...someone must have sent put their foot down.
Can't wait to watch the new dance between the intelligence community and a new Executive branch. Let's hope it moves forward instead of diddling in all the old obfuscations.

13. The tax-exempt Heritage Foundation has been strangely silent over the past three weeks.

A search for "Iran" as a research topic yields surprisingly little and out of date, really. Not entirely certain what that means, but I find it interesting that SCHIP still is on their front page and Iran is nowhere to be found there...

I believe you've hit on something indeed. Good work, my friend.

Edit: Cato, too, has nothing current. Veddy interesting--and not at all funny...

17. What could be the connection??
I'm sure there is one. Why did he bring Wolfie back? He needs more secrecy? He needs a shoulder to cry on? There is mutiny inside the White House?

and then no hindrance to all out war with Iran. This is just my theory. Where there's Wolfie - there's War!

19. Watch the RW media on this--The conservative think tanks have NOTHING recent on Iran;
Edited on Tue Dec-04-07 11:12 AM by blondeatlast
the last reports on HF, CATO, and AIPAC are dated around November 6-7. The RW media gets their tp's fresh from the Heritage Press Room daily and they were unprepared for this.

That is VERY weird. There are current stories about SCHIP on the HF site, but nothing recent about Iran. That means the NeoCon movers and shakers seem to have been left out of the loop.

21. Yes, they have definitely been left out of the loop. I find this almost chilling.
Did "whoever" need to get this NIE report out so rapidly that they had to leave these organizations out?

Or is "whoever" just oblivious/unconcerned about the role these shills play in our public dialogue? No matter how much we may hate their dialogue and spin, it is at least some kind of conversation.

Both scenarios deserve discussion imho.

24. just a guess: honked off intell & military people
From my readings, it seems the various intelligence agencies have had it up to there with the treatment from BushCo., as has most of the military, except the Air Force (which has been infected by Dominionists). Going after Iran would be an unmitigated disaster for what is left of the US military.

The NIE has been around for a year, and BushCo has sat on it, because it goes against their contentions. Someone got tired of the "drums of war" and decided to rat them out. Now they are trying to spin their way out of the hole, but it ain't working; they are just digging the hole deeper.
