and not provide strict oversight and definite rules as to what all this money can & cannot be used for--if we let these people steal our money and get away with it--we could lose our majority in the house in 2010 (out of desperation and disgust--people will elect republikas who will claim to be reform/oversight candidates).
"Stanky Hank tried originally to pull off the greatest bank heist in the history of the world with 3 pages of “legislation” that said “Gimme all your money and don’t call anyone or the Economy gets it”.
Well, Congress stepped in with a more substantial oversight scheme but no real rules about where the money should go. Only Congress forgot to appoint someone to do the damned oversight!" http://www.therandirhodesshow.com/index.php?/archives/126-Thursday,-November-13,-2008.html#extended
snap to it congressional dems--don't let us get fucked over by this. In the six weeks since lawmakers approved the Treasury's massive bailout of financial firms, the government has poured money into the country's largest banks, recruited smaller banks into the program and repeatedly widened its scope to cover yet other types of businesses, from insurers to consumer lenders.
Along the way, the Bush administration has committed $290 billion of the $700 billion rescue package.
Yet for all this activity, no formal action has been taken to fill the independent oversight posts established by Congress when it approved the bailout to prevent corruption and government waste.
