RECONCILIATION!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
|
this should be the manta of everyone here. We all want better, more progressive bills, we can get those bills if we only need 50 Senators + Joe Biden.
If Reid uses it to get through some meaningful reforms, we will whether the storm in 2010. If he doesn't the Dem party is toast along with any hopes for Progessive reform for at least the next ten years.
The conservadems have made it apparent that they do not support any kind of meaningful reform whether it be in health care or financial reform or anything else that might actually be good for the people and earn Dems some credit.
They are bought and paid for and not even trying to hide it anymore.
Let's be honest with ourselves, we wont get anything positive done in the next year unless Reid starts using reconciliation and that will kill the party.
WE NEED TO BE SCREAMING THIS TO THE ROOFTOPS: HARRY!!! DITCH THE CONSERVADEMS, USE THE FUCKING RECONCILIATION ALREADY BEFORE THEY DESTROY THE PARTY!!!!!

4. If they are going to d it via reconciliation, they might as well just do Medicare for all. |
|
It's a minor change in existing legislation. Just add the words for all citizens then fund it through general funds.
Single payer would solve everything.

11. Agreed. Isn't it ironic that in this case "reconciliation" is actually a thumb in the eye.. |
|
...to one's opponents? Reconcile and to hell with them! Yea...

15. Reconciliation has limitations. |
|
It was on both Olbermann and Rachel's show, where they mentioned the time limitation, as well as the need to go back to the House, along with something about how it could not address the public option.
I think it's time to add a Congressional rules forum to DU.

20. See, that's the thing. I think it could address the public option. |
|
I do not see why not. If it relates to the budget it should be able to be done by reconciliation. I actually think HR 676 could easily be done with it. By the time the 5 years have passed, people will love it and refuse to give it up.
Could just be wishful thinking.
