Any speculation as to why that isn't being done or why Wikileaks doesn't want the bank cables released till 2011?

By keeping it secret you leave behind the idea that there's something in it you don't want anyone to know. Breaking it open, you lose all of the benefits from people being afraid of what's in it.
Going after Assange indicates that the people in power don't think there's anything big left in it.
