Did yoy hear Bernie Sanders a few minutes ago? He knows |
|
He said the union autoworkers used to set the gold standard in this country. And now they are making $14 dollars an hour. He said what do you think you are going to be making pretty soon say out in Colorado? $10 an hour? $12 an hour? He said that is what is about to happen. He knows.

2. And he KNOWS that people unable to work will die, and probably die quickly, |
|
but he doesn't bother to mention that, does he?
No, he, along with all the rest of the "progressives", is ONLY CONCERNED ABOUT THE "MIDDLECLASS".
Those of us too old, too sick, or too injured to work can hurl ourselves off a cliff and spare the rest of you.

I have called his office, and my assertion was affirmed by his staff.
So, go argue with them.

You have to remember that. We get thrown a bone and we should accept it as good enough, even though its really a continuation of the policies that got us into this mess in the first place?

|
Edited on Fri Dec-10-10 03:49 PM by rbixby
Please, enlighten me.
And is the solution you're looking for making social security insolvent, increasing the tax burden on those who can least afford it, and adding 900 billion to the national debt in 2 years?

So what in my previous post is a 'bait and switch'? These are all things that will happen if the Obama/Republican tax plan goes through. There is no switch here.

15. Bobbolink, the tax money for Social Security disability |
|
and other programs for the poor come out of the paychecks of the middle class. That is why we all have to protect the incomes of the middle class.
If your middle class neighbor earns $10 per hour rather than $24 per hour, then the amount of tax money that can be collected and can go into programs like food stamps and welfare and Medicaid is significantly decreased.
So, that is why we are so concerned about what is happening to the middle class. The incomes and well being of the middle class are the anchors for everyone who is not rich.

Telling me that it is "for my own good" to IGNORE poor and homeless people is so disengenuous....
There is no point in saying more.. this is abominable.
Just be honest and say you don't give a damn.

32. Bobbolink, this is about tax policy. |
|
The homeless do not pay taxes. They receive income from taxes. You are not forgotten. It's just that this tax issue affects you indirectly. It affects the middle class, working people and only after it affects them does it affect you.

YOU could have gotten out there and pressed for us to get that $250... for US not to have our COLA frozen.
But, no... we poor folks are supposed to kiss middleclass asses.
Which figures, since Obama kisses rich asses.

34. Look, I'm on Social Security. |
|
I didn't get a COLA either. I'm with you as are all DUers. I appreciate your raising the issue. But the government has to have income in order to give COLAs. The issue now is whether the government should increase taxes on the rich in order to raise the revenue to give people like you and me COLAs and provide jobs as well as benefits for working and poor Americans.

39. No, you don't. Period. It is RARELY on any of the priority lists here!! |
|
Plus, this directly affects tax cuts issues... example... for every Federal dollar spent on food stamps, $1.74 comes back to the local economy. That is much more productive than mythical jobs created by tax cuts for the rich.
But none of you ever mention that, do you?

Energy is soooo much better spent denigrating those who ARE homeless and want "progressives" to take action.
Have the last word... it is sooo "progressive", given that denigrating is more important that doing something useful.
Bye now... have a nice life. NOT being poor, or being homeless, and being able to look down your nose at those who are.
