OK. I am starting to feel a little sorry for Bernie |
|
Aside from a bit of assistance from Brown and Landrieu earlier, Bernie has been pretty much tackling this on his own. Bernie is not a young guy, and he must be under incredible emotional stress right now. I am truly saddened by the fact that there are not more Senators up there assisting him in this effort.

Does he not want to make a fuss being a first term senator? I also wonder if this is calculated on his part - too many republicans would mock him as Stewart Smally maybe?

28. I finally got through to his office - he's not ready to go on record about this yet |
|
for some reason. That's what the lady I talked to in his DC office said. I asked her when he would "release a statement" about it - and she said "probably next week". I told her I hope he goes over everything Bernie has talked about today - and is STILL talking about - and makes a firm stand against this tax bill and stand with Bernie Sanders on this. Not really sure why Al isn't all over this though.

I feel pride. A man speaking from his heart and speaking the Truth. Hell, I'm ready to move to Vermont.
I'm currently in Dumfukistan, formerly known as the state of Ohio.
Go Bernie.
Is the OP sitting in a cubicle from Heritage Foundation?
Bernie is finally getting to reach lots of Americans....well, those who can afford the 2nd tier of their Cable TV levels. And you gotta spend more to get C-Span 3.
Citizens have to PAY TO SEE WHAT THE HOUSE IS DOING...AND PAY MORE TO SEE WHAT THE SENATE IS DOING.
Fucking Robber Barons.

|
in fact, nothing in the OP say's otherwise. Not sure why you took my OP that way, my point being expressed was that I am concerned that he is handling this effort virtually all on his own. He's not a young guy. Make no mistake though, I am very proud of him and what he is doing here. I just wish he had more assistance to give him a break now and then.

When it comes to taking an unpopular stand, Mr. Saunders has always been fearless. As for his endurance, I think he's got a long way to go before this effort begins to tax him physically.
Feel proud. A real live, honest-to-goodness filibuster and we get to watch it as it happens.
Go, Bernie!

Others will come along when he decides to "yield the floor" if that is how it works. http://www.yuricareport.com/Law%20&%20Legal/Senate%20Rules%20on%20Filibuster.html

22. What effort? There is NOTHING Bernie or anyone else can do to stop this bill. The vote will occur on |
|
Monday, and that will cut him off in mid sentence if he is still talking. As long as there are 60 votes (which there appear to be), it doesn't matter WHAT the other 40 do.

Honestly I do not think Obama had any other choice, there aren't votes in the Senate to do Middle Class Only Cuts. But I am happy these Senators are giving him hell about it.
