2. If he didn't "surrender" on taxes, the economy would lose over a million jobs according to Krugman |

himself, which would likely cause him to lose re-election, which means the next Republican would lower the top rate FAR below 35%.
So in effect, the thing stopping a flat tax in 2013 is that people who are opposed to this deal won't in the end get their way.

4. All you've done in this whole debate is push the DLC line. |

If the tax cuts for the rich stay in now, there in forever. No politicians will have the guts to do what's right in 2012 if it isn't done now.
The amount most non-wealthy people get from the tax cuts is trivial on an individual level.
We don't have to capitulate to Orange Man in the short term to win in the future.
Doesn't it even MATTER to you that the people are against the 'pugs on this?

7. It's not trivial on an individual level -- a family of 4 at the POVERTY LINE would lose 2k. |

"Doesn't it even MATTER to you that the people are against the 'pugs on this?" Actually, given the two ACTUAL options we have (all expire or none expire), two thirds of the country want none of them to expire. http://www.gallup.com/poll/145109/Americans-Support-Major-Elements-Tax-Compromise.aspx

6. And it doesn't matter to you that this reduces Obama to Clintonism even if he gets another term |

You clearly never wanted a break from Reaganomics. You've made it clear which side you're on...and it isn't the side of working people.

10. You CAN'T be a progressive and defend Obama on this |
|
This deal means Obama is forced to be a Clintonite the rest of the way through. How can that NOT bother you?
And how can you pretend, over and over, that this isn't an unforgiveable betrayal?
Just admit...this is the end of the Obama Adminstration.

I voted for Obama, but I am a Nader supporter, and am prouder and prouder of that fact every year.
When are delusional DNC apologists going to realize Nader has been right all along? What will it take? How much capitulation?
