Something I see a lot of with DU groups is one or a few people keeping the forum active. When this happens, the group is frequently threatened to be removed from DU. :( As a DU group, we need active participation in order to remain open. Now that we have this group I for one, would love to see it stay around. Part of participation isn't just posting responses but also creating topics for discussion. So, we need some people that are interested in creating topics for this group on a regular basis.
What this would (and would not) require:
The ability to post current events and topics relevant to pro-choice. --Anyone doing this would NOT need to feel they should be chained to this forum or DU at all. ;) We ALL have lives away from DU. I don't care if you post a new topic once a week, or once a month. All that matters is that you make whatever effort YOU can to keep this group active. If you can commit to helping to keep our group active, current and relevant an hour a week--great. More--great. Less...that's great too! If some members can post new topics monthly and others post new topics weekly, that should keep us balanced nicely.
Posting to our group could be as easy as just cutting and pasting links to topics you find as you surf the net for news. Or if you hear a choice issue on your local news broadcast, post about it here.
So, if you have any availability to offer our group please feel free to respond to this thread. Also, this commitment doesn't have to be infinite. If you can only commit to a week at a time, that's ok.
If you aren't comfortable committing, but just want to post topics and/or responses when you're around, that's cool/ok.
If you have ideas or suggestions of other ways people can volunteer to keep our group on DU's map, please share! This is your group--help make it what you want it to be!
Ok, I've got to go, but if you can do any of the above at any level--just go for it--Get started! ;) :hi: I'll be in and out. This post is just my effort to make everyone feel that this is OUR group and we all share the responsibility to keep it alive.
Enjoy your week, bliss :hi:

| 1. I was thinking of posting the NARAL |
|
updates I get as I get them. They may not elicit a whole lot of response, but it's usually very good information.

| 4. I come to DU for news. |
|
I rarely bring it here from elsewhere. But I may start doing some searches occassionally for good stuff and see what I can find to post.
I'd love to see this forum develop and turn into an ongoing community. :grouphug:

:hi:Given that you get your news here, you are welcome to provide links to inactive threads from other forums that are relevant to our group. (They have to be locked or archived so we aren't accused of trying to send people to attack others in open threads).
There's a wealth of information on DU. It would be great to have some of the older threads from Choice, GD, etc. here on our forum to discuss as well as for reference material.
(This is of course if and/or when you are feeling up to it. We know you have health concerns. It's sweet of you under the circumstances to even offer--thank you. :hug)

| 7. Any volunteers willing and able... |
|
...to post issues that regard YOUR specific city, state or corner of the world?
It's so important for us all to try to stay abreast of how choice is being impacted for women everywhere. It's easy to just focus in on where we live as individuals and how our issues are affected by the govt. But, knowing more in detail of what's going on across the US would be such a great way to have a sense of the bigger picture, so to speak.
So I think this would be a wonderful addition to our community. Any takers?
Thanks! :hi:

| 11. I love hearing the northwest news on Choice... |
|
...the women (and men) there, are all about taking it to the streets when they are pissed. I LOVE seeing that! Thank you for volunteering to bring news from your area here. :)

I've been meaning to post some articles about the Maine middle school that voted to allow its in-school clinic to disburse contraception, as that's a local story for me (I drive past the school en route to work), but I haven't gotten around to it.
