Lima, Jun. 16 (ANDINA).- Over a hundred archaeological pieces recovered from abroad, including pre-Hispanic textiles, a metal crucifix and a Christ of plaster, were handed in to the National Institute of Culture (INC) during a ceremony held Monday at the Peruvian chancellery.
The minister of Foreign Affairs, Jose Antonio García Belaunde; the director of the INC, Cecilia Bakula; and the ambassadors of United States and Germany to Peru, countries from which the patrimonial objects were repatriated, were present at this ceremony.
The recovered objects belong to three batches. The first includes a set of 29 pre-Hispanic textiles, a metal crucifix and a Christ of plaster seized by the Customs service of United States, which were given under custody to the Consulate of Peru in Houston.
