| 1. Did you research the sold prices? |
|
Maybe they're overpriced for ebay people. If not, it's probably because the starting price is so high. Either people are watching and will pop in at the last minute or they're too cheap to bid on them. I think the economy is depressing prices and sales.

| 5. Cup and Saucer sets sell for $100 |
|
I bid $102 and somebody snuck in at the last minute. That's got to be $1,000 worth of dishes there. All I can figure is that the shipping for that amount of dishes scared people away. Although that doesn't explain the other tree dishes not getting bids. I don't know. I'll bid a little for those because I already have the platter but I don't want to get more than $25 each into them because I don't understand why people aren't bidding on them. Oh well.
Thanks Everybody!!!

I first started collecting them when I found three plates at a yard sale for ten cents each. I have gotten a few more pieces since then, broke a couple which hurt, ouch. The last year the Patricia Rose pattern, specifically, has gone up quite a bit. There are several variations of the pattern and the older one is most expensive, as is usually the way. She put a reserve on the three serving pieces, oh well.

| 9. Oh, and I think this seller uses shills |
|
I saw a tablecloth she/he had for sale and the same weird buyers were bidding on it. I've seen web sites that list bad sellers so maybe this person has a reputation.

| 10. That's why they need to go back to showing who is bidding during the auction |
|
When you go to a real life auction you can see who is bidding. If you're a regular, you kind of get to know the other regulars and know how far they will bid.
I realize that it's a business and the auction house has to make their profit. But ebay won't benefit in the long run, imo, by some of their new rules and practices.

| 11. You're exactly right. It used to be fairly easy to spot shill bidding |
|
on ebay, but now it's almost impossible.

| 12. I used to like to check out how far others are willing to bid on such items |
|
If I really wanted something I knew that I would need to set my sights higher than expected. It prepared me. Ebay took away advantages on both sides. I think sellers should be able to give buyers a bad rating when deserved, too. If Ebay had a better policy on arbitrating the Feedbacks, it could work out.
I hadn't sold anything on ebay for some time and then I saw that they instituted new policies. The new rules made me shy away. I'll consider Etsy just for the smooth way it appears to work. I've gotten a few things there and it's been hassle free. But Etsy is somewhat specialized. At least they allow sales of vintage items.

| 2. I can't see the pics here at work |
|
but I notice that a lot of the common mid century English stuff goes for cheap if listed in the US. Suzy Cooper may have not caught on here yet(like Hornsea and Portmierion haven't yet). Poole is a somewhat big seller here and I imagine English stuff will see it's day in the sun (buy it while it's cheap!).

Patricia Rose is very collectible here, especially the pink and green backgrounds. I've got no idea why this didn't sell for a substantial amount. Just weird.

| 3. Looks like you have one bidder now for the place settings |
|
My opinion, not knowing anything about this line, is that these dishes are beautiful. Roses are always so popular. And that shade of green is so sought after these days. Shabby chic never seems to go out of style and these would be perfect.
When I was building a set of dishes like my mom had when I was little, Blue Ridge's Yellow Nocturne, I jumped at the chance to get multiples in one auction. You've got 4 sets there and then the set of serving pieces. Oh my!
I'm baffled. Perhaps ending an auction on a weekend evening would draw more bidders.

| 4. She's placed a reserve on the serving dishes, |

that may be why she's not getting any bids, and I think Vinca is right, they seem like high starting prices.
