collector, you will appreciate this. We all have tucked away, some little goodie that is in our "someday when I need the money I'll sell it" plan. It may not be terribly valuable but will bring a quick dollar to help with a bill or two(or more)
Well, the economy stinks to much that even that may be out of the question, unless you want to end up making zilch.
I contacted a particular business recently about selling an item that I thought would bring me a few dollars. I know, things are tight but this is a large, old firm and what I have is or was a desirable item.
I got a very nice reply saying that they have a full inventory at the moment and perhaps I would do better in the future. Translate: No $$$, I think. So much for my non-liquid rainy day fund.
I think I will not even bother trying anywhere else. This is not an e-bay type item, nor do I wish to shop it around. I am not active in the business any more and have lost contact with almost all of the dealers with whom I had business relationships.
HoHum, so much for that idea.

It's going to be a whole new world of buying and selling. Who knows how it will shake out? "They" say that people are beginning to sell heirlooms. And that garage sales are now for rent money, not pin money.
I may be stuck with a LOT of stuff, too. I waited too long to unload it.

They are pretty cheap for obscure keywords like "amberina". I will let you know how it goes.
