| so I sold some gold to some pawn stars the other day.... |
|
...and it was a pleasant and fruitful experience!
The two young men working in the pawn shop got quite a laugh when I asked them if anyone had brought in a helicopter. They were well aware of the show on the History Channel and obviously tickled when another customer told them they had a glamorous profession now.
And gee, it was easy to sell the gold charm bracelet (that had no sentimental value to me). My niece was with me. The clerk offered me "three ninety five" for the bracelet, and she thought it was three dollars and ninety five cents. Fortunately, she kept her cool when she realized it was $395 and didn't holler.
So now it's time to scrounge through all the old discarded jewelry and look for karet marks. More than $900 an ounce.

| 1. I wish I had been picking up gold jewelry over the years, but I was never interested in it. |

If something hits me in the face, I buy it, but that's about it. Now I know why the little old bearded man in line at church sales managed to develop a mean blocking mechanism. Once he gets to the jewelry table, the gold is gone. He's been collecting it for decades and must be worth a fortune. I've never been to a pawn shop. That must have been fun!

Like finding a fifty dollar bill in an old purse. This bracelet had been kicking around in a drawer for years. I know I've got some other gold. Remember that piece I wrote about last year that had pieces of jewelry encrusted on a baking pan? I know there's some gold in that stuff, and I finally got all those pieces off the baking pan. Of course after I took it all apart the American Picker had to find an encrusted piece and talk about how much he loved those. Ha!

And also for having the patience to take apart that tray. I remember when you posted about it. You have patience.
