Lots and lots of newbies?
Has anyone noticed there seem to be lots and lots of new bidders on Ebay lately? Granted there are always a few, but in the last 3 weeks or so I've had numerous buyers with 0 feedback who only signed up that very day to make a purchase. Most are great, too - they're already set up with PayPal and seem to know how everything works already. A few make me a little nervous, since there's been neither payment nor any e-mail reply or inquiry, even though I always add to my newbie invoice that they should feel free to contact me with questions if they have any. One guy, I had to coach through the understanding that one generally doesn't leave feedback until one actually receives the item, but he was otherwise entirely pleasant.

In any case, is anyone else seeing this trend? Any idea why there would be a sudden upsurge in new bidders?

2. My take?
I think (by the experiences I have had---auctions ending midway through and the sellers losing their membership) that EBAY's new fee structures have some of the small volume sellers losing their accounts because they can't afford the new fees.
They then start new accounts and buy a few things before they start selling again.
That's what I think anyway.

3. Always wonder when someone has 0 feedback
and knows all the ins and outs, if they were a previously banned eBay member, and were able to return via a different ISP, thus having no ID history.

4. We are suddenly seeing almost all newbies!
What is up with this? No correspondence, personal checks mailed...ZERO feedback, and none left after items purchased. I think this is very weird.

6. 14 out of the last 15 transactions
that I have done I have received absolutely no feedback.
That is buying and selling.
It's very discouraging.

9. As a seller, I have stopped leaving feeback until I receive
it from the buyer. Along with my email with shipping info, I say "Please leave feeback so that I will know that the item arrived safely. I will then post feeback for you." Doesn't always work, but I am getting higher numbers since I started that practice.

7. Recently, end of July, we sold our motorhome on ebay.
We worked out butts off having everything on the mh in tip top traveling condition...filled propane tank, bought gas, and washed it the morning of the pickup and arranged for a tow dollie and bought the right size ball for the buyer. Of course, we had all the paper work done to perfection. The delivery went very well....took an afternoon and saw off the buyers on their trip back home.

This was a big deal for us. Never had sold on ebay before...I was thrilled. Thought we did everything right. Even corresponded with he buyer after he had gotten back to his home to make certain their trip was uneventful! We didn't get any kind of feedback from him although we put in positive feedback for him. I even asked him to be so kind and do so. I am not happy about it. We have bought quite a little bit on ebay and ALWAYS leave feedback, but...........

8. Because of this thread I actually left feedback.
Sorry guys! I didn't know that I was supposed to.

I've never bought anything from ebay, but I do use Amazon quite often - used bookstores. So, I left feedback.

I'll go :hide:
