I mean, he's so active and he does so much. 42 years on major committees, travelling the world all the time, getting stuff done.
Typically, the VP has only needed to break a tie in the Senate and check on the President's health.
John Adams hated it in the HBO movie.
This is not meant to bash either of them, but I hope his inspirational message isn't just for the campaign.

1. I will answer by quoting the future VP.... |
|
"Yes."
A VP has a lot of jobs, and each administration has a different model or arrangement that they use or work out among themselves. I believe that he and Obama will work as a team. I don't think Biden would have accepted the nomination if he felt he was not going to have an active role in the administration.
He is too valuable to "waste", and I think Obama knows that.

hit it out of the park, showing everyone who didn't know who he was, why he, like Barack, will serve this nation well. I think you'll shit your pants, frankly, when you hear him. He's fuck'n presidential. No shit.

discussion about that over the past 8 and a half months since Iowa. It was always pretty clear to me, and the record in the group will show that. Now, I think we all understand the manifest destiny that brings Joe and Jill to this calling with Barack and Michelle.
ON EDIT: May the Goddess continue to bless Hillary Rodham Clinton.

6. Veeps do more today than in Adams' day. |
|
Starting with Al Gore the veep has been more of a partner with his own responsibilities. Always in coordination with the President, of course. Gore did more, and Cheney has done a ton more than that--probably far too much. Biden will be a good one. Only regret that he won't be Sec. of State--but there are other good prospects for filling that spot.

In the old times, that was where the action was at.
I've been reading a lot of history books, lately. One of Lincoln's vice presidents, Johnson, who succeeded him, was only in Team of Rivals for his inauguration speech, which he was drunk for. I don't even remember the name of the one in the first term, though I know they were different.
I don't know of any exciting books about Presidents later than Kennedy, Bay of Pigs, Missile Crisis, etc.. Doris Kearns (before she was Goodwin) wrote a book about the second President Johnson, she helped him write them, it's interesting, but I got bored after about half way through. It was more like a psychological profile. He was the lion of the Senate, and resented being subordinate to Kenndedy as VP. He used to take trips to Africa and give little kids on the street pens and other trinkets with his name on it. Campaign material. He was an incredible egotist.
I guess that's why it's out of print.
