1. Well, it is an issue with Biden but as I posted on that thread
Biden has an answer if that question comes up.

He recently addressed it, I think it was on his interview with Obama on 60 minutes.

He's got it under control.

2. And you know what, it's water under the bridge now...
they will reform the BK bill, and some people will be able to get back to making the rest of us pay for their reckless spending habits. Yes, I feel bad that people with medical bills got caught up in this, but, I will never feel bad about people who rack up thousands of dollars on credit cards, then shove it back in our faces, and expect a bailout. We all pay for that in the end.

No one puts a gun to people's heads and makes them use more credit than they could afford to ever pay back. Much like the mortgage thing. People who took these lame ass mortgages, with no plan of how to pay for them, has taken it's toll on this country as well.

People need to keep in mind, that there are different circumstances with all BK's, but for those who blatantly charge up shit, with knowing they don't have a way to pay for it, should indeed have to pay some, if not all of it back.

BUT, having said all of that, I'm sure they will fix it. Affordable Health care, and a catastrophe plan is the answer.

3. I totally agree about people abusing credit cards and expecting a bail out from us.
It's really no different than what's going on right now with the banks and Wall Street, except on a much smaller scale. In both cases, we the taxpayer get screwed.

4. GREAT post from you, corona,

Floor Statement: Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005
March 10, 2005

Mr. BIDEN: Mr. President, several years ago, when we were considering this legislation, I spoke here on the Senate floor about some important provisions that I think have been overlooked in our discussions. In my remarks today I will repeat what I said back then, in March of 2001. '>>>

Now we know where we can find it!

5. C - you rock on this - we need to remind our fellow DUers that Joe Biden is now our VP nominee
and the choice is now between Obama/Biden and McCain/Palin...the primaries are over.

McCain has made it clear that her and Palin are a single-cell organism. Everything he believes in and stands for so does Gov. Palin. And if she says something contrary to Sen. McCain's position SHE was in a 'gotcha' situation. On that note we must believe that Gov. Palin agrees with McCain's position on the 2005 Bankruptcy Bill.

Here's a pretty decent blog post on it:

Yep, John McCain voted for it - and against many of the amendments in it.

So next time OUR friends on DU start shitting on OUR VP nominee remind them that the choice is now between US and THEM and THEY voted FOR the damn bill!! Looking beyond the bill, what are the differences between our team and theirs? Hmmmmm??? What would their choice be then???

6. Excellent point, Deb!
If they bash Biden, than tell them to vote for the alternative.

It really doesn't matter if someone likes Joe, or Obama for that matter.
That's the Dem ticket, period.

7. The 'well he voted for it' goes out the window b/c so did McCain
So we HAVE to go beyond that argument and figure out what they'll do when they are in charge of the White House and directing Congress. I'm betting Obama/Biden will change the BB to offer more protection to consumers....what will McCain/Palin do? Do we have to guess?

8. McCain/Palin will do nothing. Why?
Because they are not going to get elected, that's why ;)
